For over 20 years I have used my vocal abilities as a vehicle to explore my passion. My voice work began in High School, where I was a key member of the school drama club and debating team. Performing has always been my passion, and being able to mesmerize an audience with my vocal talents was a major rush. During this time, due to my ability to create a sense of urgency in my speech, I was asked to do many school announcements, recordings, and project voiceovers as well.
Subsequently I have been working in Sales and Recruiting for many years, where I believe my vocal attributes have been utilized to influence others to listen to what I have to say, and ultimately leading to many a sale. I have been told time and again by (usually somewhat embarrassed) women clients, candidates, and potentials that they would return my calls, with no intention of doing business, but simply to start a conversation with me so they could listen to my voice.
I have done several local advertising spots as well. One was for a local night club that would use my voice for a special "lady's night" radio ad that would run quite often.
I was told by the club owner that it was "tremendously effective", and he said that he would have many of the lady customers asking if "the guy with the voice in the ad would be here"?
With much of my vocal appeal being noticed and appreciated by females, I have been asked to do work for ads that were aimed at women.
The following are examples of some of the types of work that I have done:
- Voice ads for a national all natural women's products company (Wicked Herbals), which I eventually became a major part of the marketing team, assisting them during business conferences by doing live announcements, and recorded tracks.
- For a premiere women's match making firm in London and UK I recorded the entire phone menu ("If you are currently a member of The XXXXXXX XXXX Agency... please press 7.."). - Several "mushy" local radio spots - one in particular was for a florist where I played "the boyfriend" on the telephone with his sweetheart telling her how much he loved her by ordering flowers from this company ("...Oh Baby... you need to have beautiful things in your life too..."(20 seconds)
- A very sensual sounding voice of a fine day spa (15 seconds)
- The voice of an in-your-face new car owner (..."the coolest move I ever made was buying a brand new Mustang from XXXXX Ford...!"(30 seconds)
For Video:
- A serious voice for an industrial safety video (about 35 min)
- Several live motivational speaking engagements for corporate/business associations that needed to draw people's attention to certain subjects/topics.
Although I appreciate all the amazing voice talents that are out there, my only formal training has been with a vocal coach, for both speaking and singing.
Since I have been using my voice on a consistent basis for many years - I believe in maintaining its health, and treating my voice as I would a million dollar instrument - because it is.
Martial Arts, Meditation, and constant practice allow me to remain in top voice at all times.
My voice is a gift - words are my business. Please feel free to contact me for any projects that you may have.
Thank you!

Doug Hunter
