I was asked as a representative for Searle Pharmaceuticals to explain to the sales force the methods of my success. I did a videotape of how to analyze the sales data given to us by the marketing department that was used to train new and experienced representatives. I was asked to speak to different training classes to help them as they taped their presentations. My presence in their classes provided validation that my success could be their success.
I have a B.A. from Penn State University and a M.A. from Villanova University. The first speech course I took was Speech 200 at Penn State and it provided me with a good critique and encouragement to speak in any endeavor I could. I was standing in line at the Post Office one day and a lady who worked for the Bucks County Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired standing behind said you have a very strong and commanding voice.I thanked the lady who spoke about my voice as she explained who she was.
I have spoken before groups of three people as well as a few thousand people.Working in management and training my responsibilty has been to motivate, encourage, cajole, persuade and train people to become better speakers. Modeling behaviors through on the job training onsite, offsite all have much to do with the conviction of the words I've spoken.I enjoy meeting, greeting and convincing people to act on their convictions and which I am able through persuasive selling/speaking.
