After decades of writing, producing and directing voice talents for radio and TV commercials, I was finally persuaded to begin doing VO work myself. I learned the nuances of audio production working alongside very talented studio professionals in Portland, Seattle and Los Angeles. Two pros in particular, the remarkable Chuck Blore of Hollywood and the talented Russ Gorsline at RexPost in Portland, were major influences over the years. At this point I estimate I've written and produced more than 400 commercials in my career. Yet technically speaking, I am new to voice talent work. I knew from the start my sound is not that of a big announcer. My voice has a natural low end, though. I have been a writer since childhood, and earned a journalism degree in college. I've worked in the ad agency world for most of my career...as a writer, creative director, agency owner, brand strategist, and trusted advisor to clients. I've also worked on the client side as a director of marketing. I am also a published fiction writer, with a focus on short literary fiction. Additionally, I've done work as a legal ghostwriter for law firms.
