Professionally, I have about fifteen years of voice experience. I have a great awareness of my voice and what it can do, which is a huge part of the job. Primarily, I find it fun to fit the puzzle of how the human voice can communicate/convince/convey/inspire-- all of it. My resume is long in the musical world, which I will describe below.
My background and current occupation is in the world of classical music. I have been performing professionally on the opera stage for well over fifteen years, including operetta and projects involving dialogue in a variety of languages. Officially I hold two degrees from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. (Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance and Bachelor of Music in Music Education) I earned my Master of Music in Vocal Performance at The Manhattan School of Music in New York City. I have steadily worked as a solo artist since 1995. Along the way, I have studied acting in college as well as completed not only extensive language courses but also diction courses-- pronunciation of multiple languages is one of my specialties.
I sought Voice Over instruction with William Williams at Aliso Creek Productions while I was singing with Los Angeles Opera. We hit it off, did a consultation and my demo was produced shortly thereafter. Not only was it a lot of fun, but I feel that I have a place in this industry.
Currently I am equipped with my MacBook, but I do have access to recording studios in both NYC and L.A. (as well as other cities since I travel extensively for my singing)On my own, however, I am comfortable recording via Audacity and Audio Recorder in WAV/MP3 format via a USB microphone.
My profession as a singer requires that I become the interpreter of not only words but music-- or vice versa, as the argument may often be! The power of making choices on subtle shadings of words or emphasis on word order is vital in conveying any communication. I am a student of language and find that that understanding of not only my native English but also the syntax of other languages gives me an edge in reading print and delivering a finished product with confidence, precision, accuracy, and character to boot.
Simply put, I am creative yet efficient and willing to bend my voice to the needs of the situation-- on the spot.
