After drawing many types of attention to myself with my mouth since I was first able to speak, I have received degrees in Theatre and Theatre Education as well as English Education and have performed professionally as an actress, costumer, and stage technician, as well as taught high school for twenty years. I not only use my voice to teach, but to teach how to use the voice. I have done voiceover work for my college radio station in ads and promos, and am the voice of our theatre in the pre-show announcements. I am just getting back into the performance area of voice-work, having taught for so many years, and am confident that the best way to get better at a skill is to teach it, and boy, have I been teaching it!
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Theatre from Illinois State University, where I studied voice with Douglas Harris. I have currently been studying with Jeff Lupetin in Chicago, Illinois, as well as working with Dave Collins of Collins Media in Florida. I have been teaching and coaching and judging theatre and speech performance for over twenty years.
I am very quick to adjust to direction and pride myself on getting the right sound in as few takes as possible. Having taught performance for so many years gives me an edge in the area of character voices and creating a "scene" with my voice. As the head of a drama department, I also pride myself on knowing how to find the best people to work with in order to put out the best product possible with the least time and money wasted.
