After a number of years of presenting on radio, I was introduced to the world of voice overs. On returning to the UK, I did some work for a number of radio stations, and started to get more voice over work. I was approached on numerous occasions to voice serious, corporate presentations, both sales and training videos. I then realised that my medical background offered me an in road into presentations where medical terminology was required. Hence Carl Zeiss, Bausch & Lomb and Eastman Kodak all have requested my voice on numerous occasions, both in English and Italian.
Having been raised in Italy until the age of around 10, Italian is actually my mother tongue. However after over 30 years of living in the UK I also speak English as a native.
This duality of tongue has helped me enormously. I have also voiced many Italian restaurant ads requiring an English voice with genuine Italian accent, a little tongue in cheek, but very popular in the United States, where there are a plethora of Pizza places !
Albeit that my voice lends itself to more serious work, and I do make a point of avoiding, celebrity impersonations (most people do them very badly, anyway) and I avoid radio jingles like the plague. I am good at tongue in cheek humour, or anything that needs that, sarcastic british tone (not unlike Basil Fawlty, but not trying to sound like him)
A sense of humour is definately there!
My voice has been used for Tourism type videos. I voiced for the Hotel Jagdhof (Innsbruck, Austria) The Italian Tourist Office, (documentary on Tuscany)
Please take the time to see my web page here on andrewcolombini.voice123 and I look forward to hearing from you.
