I absolutely love voicing projects, and you can hear that passion in my work. ► MY VOICE OVER SPECIALTIES ◄ ✧ Commercial Voice Over Commercials were the first type of voice over I ever recorded. My journey began as a sales rep at an Oldies station in Cincinnati. When the production staff needed a female voice and couldn't wait for the weekend female announcer, they asked me to give it a try. Something clicked for me when I stepped up to the microphone. I remember thinking, "How cool would it be to do this as my full time job!" Well, here I am just a few years later, and it IS my full time job! ✧ Corporate Narration My dad worked for GE all his adult life. He's a reference I use when I get ready to record any type of corporate imaging. Why? Well, people like my dad are the heart of any corporation. It's the collection of individuals that lead to a corporation's success. Bringing my focus back to the people helps me to keep my read genuine and heartfelt. I mean, that's what people like my dad deserve after all. ✧ TV Narration & Documentaries I'm always surprised at how much I learn when I have the opportunity to record a documentary. This genre brings the best of both worlds together. I have the opportunity to tell a story AND immerse myself into another world. And TV narration? As an HGTV addict, I am IN my element! Whether the project is for home repair, a historical figure, or a beautiful place, I love digging deep into the back story and sharing it with others. ✧ Healthcare Voice Over As my voiceover career progresses, I find myself doing more and more projects for hospitals, doctors, dentists, and other medical services/providers. I know that many times these situations make people uneasy (I know that's how I sometimes feel!), so I try to add some comfort to my reads in the hope that it can give a little peace to someone who is feeling anxious. My favorite projects in this genre are anything having to do with newborns or birthing centers. That is such an amazing time for a family, and whenever I narrate those it brings me back to when my own children were born. ✧ eLearning Narration As a mom who used to read to her kids a LOT, I really connect to many eLearning projects. Most of the projects I narrate are quite a bit more technical than a children's storybook, but when I record eLearning modules my goal is still to entertain. I have a picture in my mind of the person who may be listening to what is often required training—and a lot of it is pretty dry stuff! So my goal is to keep it interesting and to keep them engaged. Reading to my kids at bedtime, the goal was to get them to fall asleep. Narrating eLearning, my goal is to keep people awake! ✧ Radio and TV Voice Over I've been so fortunate to record many, many commercials. It's tough to narrow it down to just a few spots or demos to share. Commercials offer the opportunity to explore different characters, new approaches, and to take risks. I particularly enjoy the creative freedom that comes with bringing commercial scripts to life, finding just the right tone and energy to connect with the target audience. ✧ Explainer Videos I admit it. I really enjoy being quirky in my reads. With explainer videos, I often have the chance to do just that. While not all explainer videos are written with humor, they're a lighter-hearted approach for an entity to tell its story. As a quirky storyteller, that works just fine for me! Explainer videos allow me to combine clarity with personality, making complex information accessible and engaging. ✧ Telephony You know how it feels when you call a place and you hear, "your call is VERY important to us"...and you fight the urge to hit something? Yeah...I feel ya, but really and truly, the people who create those messages sincerely mean it! My approach to telephony is to sound authentic and helpful—creating a positive caller experience even during wait times. After all, first impressions matter, and your phone system is often the first interaction customers have with your business. ✧ Medical Sciences Talk about on-the-job learning! Any medical science project I've had the privilege to record has been a fascinating lesson for me. That fascination finds its way into my reads because I am genuinely amazed at some of the research and technological advances being made. Recording and sharing that information is truly satisfying. I pride myself on accurate pronunciation and conveying complex medical information with clarity and appropriate gravity. ✧ Calm, Comforting, Uplifting Tone Some of my favorite projects are the ones that call for a 'calm, comforting or uplifting' delivery. Maybe it's because as a mother of two kids, I've had a lot of practice with this particular tone, or maybe it also makes me feel calm and comforted, but I really resonate with scripts like this. They seem to cut through the clutter and act like a 'big ole audio hug'. I use this tone often for corporate narration and commercials, especially for hospitals and healthcare, parenting and education, and nonprofit organizations. ► MY PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND ◄ I wasn't always a voice over artist. My diverse professional background includes sales at WGRR-FM, media planning and buying, and even a few years in real estate. All of these experiences gave me insight into a wide array of things from understanding the creative process to the value of great customer service. This varied experience helps me collaborate effectively with producers, creative directors, artistic directors, video art directors, human resource professionals, eLearning managers, and other creative people.
