About Asha
I have a passion for the spoken word. I hold a degree in Phonetics and the International Phonetic Alphabet and I've been mentored by industry experts. My natural accent is crisp, rather traditional, Heightened Received Pronunciation (R.P. British accent). I can also easily switch to a more contemporary, friendly and warm neutral Southern British Accent.
I am adroit at doing a neutral "BBC English" and not so good at doing regional accents. I will not be able to confidently put on a regional accent. I am sorry about this, but I'd rather be honest with you.
I have done audiobooks and do news bulletins for a UK radio station regularly (3 times a week). I also enjoy doing announcements (not everyone's forte as they may find it boring!) and can also do professional narrations for documentaries and videos. A BBC continuity announcer, a household name, described my voice as "mellow, contralto, even, measured and articulate". I also work as a voice and accent coach and I have prepared numerous instructional CDs and course materials.
