While studying Drama and Film in Johannesburg, South Africa, he did news and actuality broadcasts for the SABC (Radio RSA) into Europe, the Middle East and North America. Since graduating in 1986 he has built a career in South Africa as a voice-artist, actor, screenwriter, and journalist.
A believer in life-long learning, he was awarded a masters degree for his research into emotional contagion and empathy from a nuerobiological perspective. Describing his research, he says, "We're wired to experience others' feelings - and this has implications for communication and social cohesion in an increasingly technological world".
His acoustically treated home studio is equipped with a TUL F47 microphone (Based on the Neumann U47 FET), a Samson C-Valve Tube Mic pre-amp and a Behringer Tube Composer. Recording software is Adobe Audition and Cool Edit Pro.
He has ready access to a higher-end studio running Digidesign ProTools on a Mac Dual Core G5 which allows seamless file transfers with any video editing software. The studio also contains Sony, Yamaha, Rode and Behringer equipment with full music and FX libraries.
