Experience.
Alison has recently returned to voice work after a break to relocate and care for family members, collaborating again with Salamandra Animation and Design Studios, Berkshire, on corporate animation videos. She is establishing herself locally as a reliable and fun voice over, with local institutions such as Exeter Library, and independent companies like Prodigy Escape Rooms, Exeter.
Previously, her clear and calm voice lent itself to pre-recorded announcements for large venues, fire evacuation instructions in theatres, and telephone messaging services for businesses and hotels. And her teaching experience and informative voice suited narrating e-learning courses for English@Oxford, Magna Carta College -(English Language Learning Centre) Oxford.
Alison collaborated and voiced a series of podcasts for Oxford University Museums (Talking Objects, 2015) which she also created, recorded and edited.
Training.
Alison developed acting skills whilst at Exeter College studying drama, and went on to complete a 3-year training teacher’s associate at the West St School of Classical Dance, which included singing and stagecraft.
She began voice training in 2013, when she worked with various voice coaches, including:
Sue Cowan, Gary Terzza VoMasterclass (London), and later with Jamie Read (The Voice Teacher) and Yvonne Morley (Your Voice Box / The Actor’s Centre, London).
Alison continues to develop her voice, technical ability and knowledge of the voice over industry, subscribing to Gravy for the Brain voice over training platform.
Her radio presenting and audio technical skills were gained whilst volunteering on a wide range of programmes for Radio Cherwell (Oxford) and Phonic FM (Exeter), including presenting live broadcasts and the news, and winning her a bronze for Best Newcomer 2015 at the HBA awards.
Alison continues her professional development, attending:
Acting for Radio workshops (London) with David Gooderson
Meisner (acting) technique with Mark Cassidy, at the Cygnet Theatre, Exeter, (2+ years)
Coaching sessions and workshops with voice coach Katie Lyons at Reel Voices (London)
Alison continually updates her business knowledge and digital skills, participating in on-line workshops given by Cosmic Training, Devon.
