- Experience, training, and equipmentI began my full time voice-over career after re-entering radio as a DJ. Working mostly morning shifts gave me the rest of the day to field freelance commercial voice-over work. All told, I spent nearly 25 years in radio. As a personality in the Country, Adult Contemporary, and Hot AC formats, I learned the nuances and subtleties of conversational higher-, middle-, and lower-range delivery. As a reporter and anchorman, I learned more about conversational delivery and pacing required for longer form reads. Ultimately, I jettisoned radio in order to reach my highest potential as a voice actor. I stocked my studio with Sennheiser MKH416 and Mojave MA200 mics; Clarett2Pre interface; iMac computer running Pro Tools DAW; JBL speakers.
