About Mary
Member sinceJun 6, 2010
For a female, my voice is lower than average and therefore stands out from the crowd. I can perform narrations that are smooth, articulate and professional without being boring. I can make my voice serious or fun and upbeat, depending on the message. I can tell a story in a 30 second commercial that will keep the listener connected. My diction is very good, yet it doesn't sound stiff and formal. I can be the neighbor next door, a mom giving advice or the fun-loving friend.
I have radio and theater experience and I am a singer so I can control my voice very aptly. I am also a marketing director with 20+ years of experience, so I understand the need to reach an audience effectively and with just the right amount of emotion.

Experience, training, and equipment
I started in radio way back in 1988 doing Sunday morning programming, recording commercials and doing live assist work. I conducted my own weekly healthcare radio talk show in the mid-90s and currently write and record commercials and IVR scripts for my company and for others upon request.
I am a senior marketing director at a $2 billion company and have familiarity with finance, healthcare, non-profit and business industries. I am also a college professor, having taught marketing, communication, leadership and business courses. In addition, I write an award-winning family humor column, published a book of columns in 2009, and launched a local magazine in 2010. I am also a sought-after public speaker who can entertain audiences of all ages, though my specialty is frazzled moms.
As you can see, I have extensive experience in writing, editing, copywriting, public speaking and story telling. I know what readers and listeners want, and I know how to convey that message. Most of all, I'm fun and easy to work with!
I have a bachelor's degree in Communications and a Master's degree in Business and Organizational Leadership. Many of my college courses covered interpersonal and public communication, argumentation and debate, and theater/narration training. I also took radio/Tv/film courses.
When I started in radio in 1988, I was mentored by a long-time radio DJ who taught me the ropes of radio over a two-year period. I am also a singer, and had a voice coach when I was in high school. I have performed onstage in musical productions, and I have written and produced video productions during my career in marketing. I am also an accomplished public speaker.
I have easy access to the local 50,000 watt radio station recording studio as well as the local cable access studio. I have established my own home studio with the assistance of the radio personnel and audio engineers at the station.
Equipment I utilize in my sound-proofed home studio:A CAD U37 USB Studio Condenser Recording Microphone with Garage Band software on a MacBook Pro.
I am a writer, editor and publisher, with experience writing (and recording) radio spots, educational shows, video voice overs and training videos. I also have 20 years of marketing experience in the fields of mental health, healthcare, finance, non-profit and publishing industries.
