After many years of doing national commercials (Toyota, L'Ermitage Hotels, Del Monte, Gallo, Best Western, & S&W Coffee,California Lottery, etc.) Kate was honored in 1992 to be one of the first Narrators in the VO industry to be given an EMMY. It was "peer reviewed" by industry members, something for which she was especially proud.
This award was given for her Narraton of 19 segments for PBS's KOCE production "Cycles of Life: Exploring Biology". The project is still being aired on America's PBS stations and is used in Colleges and Hi Schools across the US and in Canada.

Kate has just finished narrating "Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome", a tutorial for Dr's & Nurses about the deadly results of neglecting to diagnose and treat a common condition resulting from the use of psychotropic drugs. The documentary is also being viewed by medical students.
Kate worked in the LA market for her entire career, earning a living during many of those years. She was with Vanessa Gilbert and continued with Vanessa when she moved to the Tisherman Agency in Burbank where she is now one of the primary partners.
Coming to the Palm Springs area and building a professional home recording studio has allowed Kate to do VO work "long distance".
Early on, "The VoiceCaster" founder and owner, Bob Lloyd, was Kate's first VO agent after he discovered her when she was a commercial Actor at the Ann Wright Agency where Bob was an Agent there.
"Doing voice work and being an actor, singer, journalist, photographer,performer and video producer for Time/Warner Desert Cities here in the Palm Springs area as well as working in the LA market for many years is how I learned what I do and how to do it. During that time I regularly took Animation and VO workshops in LA and many a brush up seminar saw me front row being a VO geek."
Kate takes particular pleasure in working with a Director who knows exactly what he or she wants. She says she loves "hitting the mark"and her narration work with PBS has earned her accolades from the Video Production industry.

Kate will go anywhere in So.Cal for recording, but several local studios are state of the art and priced affordably.
Kate Porter is a published Writer and writes copy and produces radio and TV commercials for worthy causes.She also sings and is an ASCAP songwriter and member of TAXI.
Kate conceived and produced "AnimalChat" for 5 years, a weekly half hour TV show "celebrating animals and the people who love them". She followed that with 4 years of "Time Warner Cares", where she profiled local charities and their services.
