I studied acting for three years in Great Britain at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, where I learned how to speak with a flawless English accent (and how to sit down gracefully while wearing a corset, a bustle, and two petticoats but I don't think you'll be interested in hiring me for THAT skill!)
I came back to America, and alternated between performing in regional theatre (Shakespeare & Co - "The Wharton One-Acts" and "The Scarlet Letter,") and off-Broadway (Jean Cocteau Repertory - Eliza Doolittle in "Pygmalion," Tillie in "The Effect of Gamma Rays..." and many others) with every actor's standby - restaurant work.
I soon determined that it was imperative that I find work that didn't involve hot liquids or china plates, so I ended up answering phones at Spice Market. Very soon after I started working there, the manager approached me and asked me to record voicemail greetings for the restaurant. I obliged, and was surprised at how easy I found it and how much I enjoyed it. One day the owner called the reservations line and I answered.
"Mademoiselle, you 'ave a beea-utiful voice! Why am I not paying you more?" he exclaimed.
"Hmm," I thought. "Good question!" And that's when I started to wonder if I might not be able to use my voice for things more fascinating, fulfilling and lucrative than answering phones.
I decided to become a voice actor, and I knew I would need the best training, so I studied privately for eight months with Peter Rofe of PDR Voice Over Coaching, and recorded my commercial and animation reels.
I've also recorded "American Heavy," a radio play by Gregory Whitehead for BBC 4.
Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, London, three year diploma with honors. we studied radio and voiceover technique.
I've studied privately with Peter Rofe and have attended quite a few voice over acting workshops at PDR with various industry professionals.
Microphone, pop-blocker, Sound Studio
I have an excellent voice for the telephone and am extremely comfortable with phone work, as many of my "day jobs" have involved answering phones and recording voice greetings.
I have worked as a dialect coach on several productions, and coach actors privately in different accents and dialects.
