After many years of working as a writer and producer at NBC Sports (see next section), I embarked in 2008 on a new career in voice-overs.
While at NBC, I recorded many of the scratch tracks for promos, which gave me invaluable experience and inspired me to pursue my own voice-over career. My ability to create accurately timed scratch tracks and anticipate exactly how each individual voice-over talent would read the copy sparked my passion for a voice-over career.
Recent projects have included a trade show presentation for Hoshino USA, and playing the role of car #2 in Telly award-winning commercials for the New York International Auto Show. The NYIAS spots aired extensively in the New York market on tv, radio, and in movie theaters. Additionally, they were also shown on YouTube and on the event's website.
I have had extensive training with Marla Kirban Voice-Over in New York. My training has included private lessons, group lessons, plus seminars in animation and video games voice-over, promo voice-over, the infrastructure of voice-overs, and finding your voice-over niche.
Before embarking on my voice-over career, I worked for many years at NBC Sports as a writer and producer in the on-air promotions department. My experience working with voice-over talent at NBC, including directing them during recording sessions, helped prepare me for a career in voice-overs on many levels, especially with regard to interpretation of copy.
Also while at NBC Sports, I had the opportunity to write and produce highlight packages for studio shows, including the chance to work with Bob Costas, Marv Albert, and others.
While at NBC, I won 3 Emmy Awards, 2 Silver Promax Awards, and a Gold Effie Award.
I have a BA, summa cum laude, in Communications (Special Honors Curriculum) from Hunter College.
I have a home studio featuring ProTools 8 with an AKG Perception 220 microphone (plus pop filter and tripod stand) and Sennheiser HD 280 pro headphones. I also have a Manhasset copy stand.
I dedicate myself wholeheartedly to every project that I undertake. I am very easy to work with. I take direction well, and I am very adept at making adjustments. Having been on "the other side of the glass" when I worked at NBC, I have an excellent and comprehensive understanding of the producer's job and possess a strong ability to self-direct when needed.
