I have done theater all my life, starting with "elocution lessons" at the age of three. I have done professional and amateur theater, television and movie work, and I do old-time radio show recreations with a small theater company. I had the lead part of Sarah in "Quilters" in an amateur production that was chosen to represent the United States in Monte Carlo, Monaco, an event that was started by Princess Grace Kelly. I am fairly new to voice-over work, but have done work since my enrollment in Voice123. I have spent most of my life teaching music and theater to children and teenagers and came late to the professional world after retiring from public school education. I did a training film for Western Union that was used world-wide. I have done some union work, both in the theater and commercial TV, but I opted not to go union since I have no intention of making the move to New York or LA. So far most of my professional work has been on stage or on-camera. I studied voice-over work to add to my abilities as an actress.
I have a master's degree in vocal performance from University of Colorado. My vocal range is mezzo-soprano. I also have theater training, classes in voice-overs and on-camera training, including workshops of all types. I am still taking dance classes on a regular basis.
I use computers, 2 microphones and several kinds of software. As I started late in the business, I am still learning. My software has the capability to lay tracks, add music, mix, etc. Unfortunately, I'm still learning, so I don't claim any expertise yet. I do have the help of my husband who was a TV engineer at KMGH-TV in Denver and a grandson who has more knowledge about computers than I ever hope to.
I have played many types of roles in theater throughout my life. I still take tap dance lessons to keep in shape, and my voice sounds young for my age. I played the lead in the musical, "Quilters," as we represented the US in the international amateur theater competition in Monte Carlo, Monaco. I have also played the Countess in "Song of Norway," the mother in "Amahl and the Night Visitors," the character A in Edward Albee's "Three Tall Women," along with many other parts. I have been in many television commercials, including two national and one international: A Disney Channel Production and one for Ford Expedition, both shown nationally, and a training film for Western Union which was sent out internationally and was part of a special seminar in Paris, France. Most of this has been since I took early retirement from public school teaching and acquired an agent.
