I have eight years experience in radio as an announcer, DJ, copy writer, technical producer, production assistant, and production director.
The stations I've worked at include KASF 90.9 FM in Alamosa, Colo., KSLV 1240 AM - 96.5 FM in Monte Vista, Colo., KYDN 95.3 FM in Monte Vista, and KNAB 1140 AM - 104.1 FM, a station in Burlington, Colo. serving a wide swath of eastern Colorado, Western Kansas, and south western Nebraska.
My voice over and production work have also been featured on KGIW 1450 AM and KALQ 93.5 FM in Alamosa.
Throughout my tenure in radio, I've recorded many different types of voice overs, including commercial spots, public service announcements, weather updates, community event calandars, news briefs, and much more.
Additionally, during my time at KNAB, I hosted my own live, local 30-minute newscast at 4 p.m. each weekday afternoon and at 7 a.m. on Sunday mornings. My schedule soon expanded to include doing two 60-minute newscasts at 7 a.m. and noon on weekdays and Saturdays.
I also served for three years as an audio book narrator for Recordings For the Blind & Dyslexic.
I can sight-read scripts, and I have a talent for mimicry, vocal billboarding, and a natural sense of inflection.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/Journalism, and I've taken Voice for Performance courses.
I've also had considerable vocal coaching, and work well under direction.
My home studio set-up consists of an MXL 006 USB microphone, along with the audio production programs Adobe Audition, MXL Recorder and Microsoft Sound Recorder.
These programs allow me to record and save voice overs in a wide variety of audio formats, including .MP3, WAV and many others.
My other production proficiencies include Cool Edit, Prophet Systems Audio Wizard, AXS, Sound Forge, and Sound Edit 16.
I'm also very comfortable in any professional recording studio.
I know about audio psychology, the study of how humans percieve what they hear, and I know how to incorporate its tactics into my work.
As an example: When listening to a long list of items, we are almost always able to recall the first and last items on the list, but not much between them. Therefore, it is best to place the most crucial information in these aptly titled "power positions".
I welcome challenges of all kinds. I have high personal and professional standards and possess exceptional interpersonal skills. Additionally, I work well under pressure, and am accustomed to unconventional work hours and meeting strict deadlines.
