About Don
Don McDonald is a voice actor located in Orlando, FL, USA. He has been actively working as a voice actor since 1985. Listen to 14 voice over samples that showcase his best work.
I was blessed with a deep, rich voice that I have honed through years of voice and theatrical work into a versatile tool that can work for almost any type of read. I can create any "announcer" sound, from authoritative "VOG" type of work to warm, friendly "Smucker's-guy" voices. I also love recreating classic announcer styles from a 1940s newsreel to an 80s game show host.
Many have compared my voice to James Earl Jones or Margan Freeman. I also have a natural ability (thanks to being raised in the West) to do a rancher, farmer, "Sam Elliott" style voice that is gritty, warm, and natural. My talents are steeped in the art of storytelling.
As a trained performer, I can create almost any character. I have studied film and television acting extensively. I am honing my voice skills with some of the country's best commercial and character coaches, including J. Michael Collins and Lori Adam.
I also create and perform the short story podcasts, Litreading and Readastorus.
