I worked at a number of radio and TV stations over 35 years in Alberta and BC from 1972 to 2006.
I earned a very good living with my voice and it took me to 24 years of hosting morning shows as well as being a news anchor.
My delivery is smooth, sincere and as morning host, was able to include a lot of humor in my work.
I also learned to ad-lib very effectively which is crucial as a morning host.
I also had to think on the fly and by the seat of my pants which often was hilarous.
In a scripted scenario for voice-over, I'm able to create that kind of delivery that seems to be spontaneous and off the cuff, making it more believable and sincere (and sometimes really funny).
I studied in the Television, Stage and Radio Arts program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary and graduated in 1971 and began my broadcasting career.
I also taught Broadcasting and Cable Television fundamentals at the Lethbridge Community College from 1988 to 1993, much of it centered around voice work with the students.
In the small, medium and major market stations that I worked, we had to do a myriad of voicing for many different clients.
And with the experience as a vocalist and singing harmony, it's given me a deep pool of experience in music.
My band has a complete recording studio with state of the art recording equipment including mics, computer and instruments including an accoustic and electronic drum kit, accoustic guitars, electric guitars and bass and keyboards.
I also have access to the recording studio at a local radio station where I worked.
I've also gained much experience in recording, editing, mixing and mastering audio and music.
Our band has just completed recording our first CD of original material and we'll have the mastering of the songs done by the end of April.
I'm completely flexible in my schedule. I'm also a freelance professional writer and I understand the critical importance of timely production and pride myself on submitting my writing before deadline.
I also have several years experience in radio sales so I understand the needs of clients and how important a well-produced commercial, narrative or documentary voice-over is in a successful campaign.
I work well individually or in a team setting and do not have an ego that I might trip over.
However, if I feel that I have an idea that might make the project even more successful, I will bring that to the table for discussion.
