I've read tons of VOs for agency videos and case studies in NY, SF, and Detroit. The vast majority of them have been narrative scripts, but I've also done dialogue. As a writer, reading scripts with the right inflection comes naturally. And after getting enough great reviews from colleagues about my voice, I'm ready to read professionally.
Though I've never gone to VO school, I have a well-trained ear and know how to make words on a page sound great on a recording. I attribute this to me playing music for 20 years, writing all my life, and reading everything I write out loud. I also have solid experience in the VO booth--both as the talent being directed, and as the writer directing the talent. And while none of the above is formal education, it taught me a ton.
