My voice-over experience was mostly in Radio Production as I was an on-air personality for 10 years in the '70s and early '80s. Most of my work was in locally produced commercials while some was in informational "give and take" segments in Public Service Announcements where we would interact with Non-Profits, Community Service groups and Gov't Agencies.
Like many I started working in a garage band in high school and college. After two years at the University of Minnesota I enrolled in the Brown Institute of Electronics to get my 1st Class Radiotelephone operators license which was required to sit behind a microphone in those days. A few of the guys in the band gravitated toward the recording studio…I went with radio for 10 years. That followed with 10 years in the Geophysical Sciences field and then 20 years working in the Financial Services industry with licenses in the Mortgage field, Series 7 and 66 licenses as a Financial Advisor, and Insurance Agent sales license. It adds up to lots of experience and plenty of hard work and moreover, the knowledge that there is absolutely nothing like sitting behind the microphone.
I use Adobe Audition and Audacity DAW's. Mics are Neumann TLM 103 with Audient iD22 interface. Shure PG42-USB also available.
