All four years of college, I put together packages for our tv station at the university. I had to do voice overs for all the packages. Depending on what the package was about, I had to sound interested, excited, enthralled, unhappy, mellow, informative, questioning, intelligent, clear, or professional. There were times my packages would cover death, pain, or something equally as sad. For these I would have to express severe emotion. I also hosted a tv show my junior year. The voice overs for the packages that I covered on this show were all happy, excited, and interested in what I was discussing. The goal of the show was to inform and try and get people's attention so that they would want to go to these events in the future, contribute with a donation if necessary, or share with other people what they have heard.
I have a double major in broadcast journalism and media studies. I hosted a tv show covering local events. I put together packages all four years of college, doing voice overs in each. I took part in speeches that required me to change my voice to develope to the mood or fit the particular character I was discussing. I took a communication course that required us to put together commericals, vocal advertisements, and imitations. We were required to put skits together on demo tapes to practice and share our vocal qualities and capabilities.
I was an office assistant/secretary at 2 different points, and a large part of my job was answering phones. I had clients daily tell me that I had a distinctive, professoinal, friendly, clear, strong, powerful, smooth voice almost daily.
