BSKYB - internal comms video voice over:
As part of a project for bSkyb I organised a motivational event where characters from the top show “The Gladiators” visited Sky’s call centres in Scotland. We filmed the event and I did the narration to the film.
STORY TELLING TIME – June 2008 – Dec 2009
I run a weekly story book and song hour at a local cafe near my home where I read stories to local children whilst their parents have a coffee. This started as an idea to get more people into the cafe which is relatively new, and has proved very successful. The children range from 3-4 years, though younger children are allowed if accompanied.
AUDIO BOOKS NARRATOR – 2001, 2002, 2003
I have narrated a number of excerpts for audio books on a voluntary basis for Bolinda Books when they have created suggested book lists for purchasers. These excerpt demos give an idea of what titles are available and give an idea of the book without having to employ a celebrity before production starts on the title.
BBC RADIO CLUB – 1999-2007
I have been involved in the writing, directing, acting, voice overs and narration of a number of plays broadcast by the BBC Radio Club, an internal club set up by the BBC for staff.
BBC NEWS - 1999- 2007
I have filed ad hoc news reports for BBC News during my career in BBC Newsgathering.
POSITIVE TV REPORT – 2009 to current:
Despite my dislike for front of camera work I have written and produced two reports for Positive TV, one interviewing Italian artist Michaelangelo Pistoletto on interactive art and the second interviewing a conservation lawyer about planetary rights for the Earth.
Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA)
Foundation Course in Voice, Text and Sight Reading (done as part of school’s extra curricular activities – 1977-1981)
BBC Workshops (various) on presenting and radio production.
Royal Academy of Music - Piano to Grade 8
I spent 10 years working at the BBC News and gained much experience in media production for both radio and television.
I have a Hewlett Packard Entertainment Pavilion which has Windows XP Movie Maker and media player software on it that allows me to create high qulaity audio media files. As it is portable it allows me to work from many locations.
I have a Sennheiser HMD280 headset which allows me to broadcast in noisy environments with limited interference.
I have a Behringer B-1 Condenser Mic which is perfect for home studios.
I have spent the last 13 years working in the media, mainly for the BBC but also for Sky. I have also run my own production company so I have a good working knowledge of media production.
I understand tight deadlines, limited resources and production budgets, so I know how important it is to contribute to these in an efficient and profesisonal manner and I pride myself in doing both.
I am flexible, versatile and accomodating when it comes to production schedules and happy to work at whatever pace the client needs.
