I've been doing on hold/in store/non-traditional voiceover messaging for muzak for over 5 years now. I've spent most of my career in radio on air and in production, but don't have the problem of sounding 'canned'. My secret ambitions are to be the Phone Lady (I'm sorry, the number you have reached is no longer in service...) and supply the voice for an animated character on film.
I've worked for Sirius, Jones Radio Network, Entercom and currently produce for CBS/Seattle. I've narrated video for Habitat For Humanity and local charities.
I started imitating voices I hear on radio and on TV when I was old enough to talk! I've worked with Veronica Weikel briefly. I've been in the Seattle market for over 24 years. My work at muzak puts my voice on the Seattle Monorail and at tourist attractions around the US.
I have 8 studios at my disposal, each with Adobe Audition 1.0 (We're getting 3.0 in days, but none of us ever liked 2.0, so we're still with the first version from the Cool Edit switch.) Two of the studios still have Audicys, but there are only two producers who still use them (actually, they prefer them!) and we're almost done breaking one of them (producer, not machine)...he's asked for lessons on Audition, so I'm not sure how long we'll have them. They're not even making parts for them anymore. I've worked with both RCS and AudioVault (DOS version, too.) and prefer RCS. We have all the standard but hardly used cassette decks, DATs and minidiscs. We even still have a few cart machines, and they get used! I'm pretty sure we have a couple Yamaha SPX-1000s around, too. I have an MBox, Pro Tools and Audition on my home PC as well.
At work, I use an AT4050 mic and at home, a mic made by a local company, Pacific Pro Audio, a PPA-1. It's a lot like the 4050, but a little warmer and richer.
I'm a total motorhead, or at least, I was. I still love cars and understand the language, but since I bought a Toyota MR2 Turbo, I don't work on my own cars anymore. Fuses don't even look the same anymore. I worked as a runner and a counter person in an auto parts store while I went to college to become an art teacher. That never happened, but I still paint, draw and make art.
I'm big on electronics, TV, BluRay, DVRs, Amps, that sort of thing.
I understand a lot of medical technology and terminology.
I'm an avid gardener. I'm a huge fan of Mexico and have been there over 20 times, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, Ixtapa, Los Cabos, La Paz, Playa del Carmen, Cancun, Tomatlan, Guadalajara and one trip to CA, Belize. I love to tarvel, in general and go places to skin dive, specifically.
I cook and bake a lot. I keep current on world events, politics, entertainment and fashion. I know about home construction, I was married to a contractor and we flipped a house together. I love animals and take great interest in cats and their health. Weather of any kind fascinates me.
