A career in radio has led me from on-air work in AC to smooth jazz to country formats and the commercial production and imaging work that went along with them. I also spent several years doing news and traffic for a national service. That job required a great deal of creativity and versatility as I jumped from one persona to another in any given 3 hour shift...I had a different "character" for every station I was on. JB, the traffic queen of hip-hop and R&B...Roxanne Dubree (think about that one and you'll get it) for a couple of obnoxious shock jocks and Jordan West, the country sweetheart sidekick were just a few of the characters I became through my years in that gig. I had done on-hold advertising and commercial work for over 15 years on the side from my home studio until making it my primary job about 4 years ago. I now do that full time, so my availability and turnaround time is super quick!
I attended college on a full theater arts scholarship many years ago, but found my career route taking me to a place where most of my acting was done behind a microphone instead...it turned out to be the better choice for me. I still do theater work for fun. The bonus is that it does continue to enhance my skills in character development, which in turn has led to some great new character voices for commercial work through the years not to mention generally polishing my skills.
I have a basic home studio and am skilled in the use of a number of digital editing programs including Goldwave, Sound Forge and ProTools. I have the equipment AND the ability to produce TV and radio quality commercials with music and sound effects.
In addition to the things already mentioned,I've done voicemail trees, web audio, TV commercials (both on and off camera), on camera hosting for public television, hosted a public affairs interview show for radio and hosted an annual promotional video for several years for a professional theater company to send out to subscribers telling them about their upcoming seasons of shows. I was also the voice of the California Lottery's Daily Draw for a number of years which was carried daily on television stations across the state of California.
