I am the motivational speaker of Mechanical Motivation, who is looking to speak to people who wish to advance themselves psychologically. I was born in Canton, Ohio but grew up in Columbus,Ohio.
Previously, I was studying Mechanical Engineering for four and a half years until I found my passion in speaking. I graduated with an Arts of Sciences associate’s degree at the University of Akron August 20th, 2016.
I earned my HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) certificate in May 2011. I was a Resident Assistant for two years and interned at Moen Incorporated for eight months.
I am also involved with Alpha Phi Omega co-ed service Fraternity since 2013; I have over 200 service hours spent giving back to the community.
Being the product of a single parent household, I have experienced my fair share of turmoil in my life. When I was 13, I got into a physical altercation with my Step father then ran away from home and took refuge at my aunt’s house. This happened 2 days before I shattered my knee cap playing basketball. I was also jumped by a gang on my way to the barbershop when I was 16.
I fell victim to several robberies growing up, but thankfully none of them were at home. I know what it is like to go through Ohio winter nights without the heat on and I know what it is like to dispose of dead rodents caught overnight. I have experienced the fear of being in a vehicular accident when I was eight years old and that same year I suffered a concussion in the school gym.
I have attended elementary schools where there were fights every day and I was a victim of those same fights. At this same school, I watched a girl have her finger cut off (that one stands out quite a bit). I have also had my fair share of racism in schools from bullies that viewed my looks and the things I liked as grotesque. I have experienced what it is like to lose loved ones. I watched my great-grandmother passed away when I was 12, then my dog was euthanized in my lap when I was 14. I have also seen others die from car accidents as well.
As a child, I was very talented and did well in school. I was apart of the safety patrol, I was student council president, I was in the band and I joined the chess club while in elementary school. I have a loving family who cares deeply for me but a lot of the events described above made me an angry child growing up. I got into a lot of fights and I often saw myself disgusted with the world around me due to all the negativity I was subjected to.
Although, in my final years of high school, things got much better. I finally decided to stop being mad at the world and I got involved with programs like Upward Bound, City Heroes, F.I.R.S.T. Robotics, COSI (Center of Science and Industry), the Urban League and the Emerging Leaders. I met a lot of positive people through these programs and they taught me that my past can be used as wings instead of anchors.
