I have served my church, St. Paul's Lutheran, Decatur, IL, as a lector for 20+ years. Other work there includes narrations and special readings. I did voice over work as the announcer voice for "Real Men of Jesus," a commercial type spoof of the "Real Men of Genius" ads. This was used in a sermon series during Spring 2005. I have done voice acting as the voice of God in skits and played Pontius Pilate in a "Larry King" type interview.
I serve as announcer for a local high school (LSA High School) and work volleyball and basketball games--both men's and women's. I have announced at swim meets and track meets also.
Basically, I have learned by doing and observing other professional's work. At church the recording engineer calls me "one take, Roy."
I am currently enrolled in a Theological Education by Extension program through Concordia College, Mequon, WI, and have had training in communicating Bible Messages.
While my voice work has been entirely volunteer and "for fun." I feel I am ready to take the next step into professional voice talent work. Several people have encouraged me to do so over the years.
With the loss of my 33 year bank position due to implementation of a new business model, I feel the time is right to test the waters in new and different fields. I feel I would do well in a wide variety of voiceover work, and welcome the opportunity to do so.
