I'm often called on to read out loud from the scriptures during Sunday school. Not a time goes by that I don't receive some kind of commentary from the crowd around me saying that I should be on the radio or doing voice work, so here I am. I have met with a voice coach who says I'm one of the best cold reads she's ever heard, but I'm still very green and very new to all of this.
Training? I came home from kindergarten after the first week and told my mother I wasn't going back because they had not yet taught me how to read, that they just read to us. I was so upset! I wanted to read! A few thousand books later, I'm pretty comfortable with reading just about anything.
Hypnosis. After my voice changed, my mother would often ask me to explain such mundane topics as how a transistor is made or how TV works just to hear the soothing tones of my voice which allowed her to release the stress of her day and take a nice nap after work. Once I knew she was sleeping, I'd leave the living room still muttering to myself about silicon chips and lasers.
