For narration, I use a very warm and conversational tone. I feel it makes it easy to keep people engaged if they get the sense you are truly speaking with them. It shouldn't feel like someone is just reciting something, it should feel like the story is coming to life right infront of you. For commercials, it's all about finding that right energy that the product needs, typically I speak more like an every day guy.
