Because I'm only just beginning to pursue a career as a voice talent, my experience is very limited. I just completed training (see below) and am now ready to build a resume. I recently produced and did the voice over for the executive summary power point presentation on the website for Market Transformation to Sustainability. It was about 10 minutes long and contained several mulit-syllable words and tongue twisters. I've also had many opportunities to speak in front of large crowds. I also was the announcer for football games at the high school where I used to teach.
My unofficial training began when I was in junior high school. My best friend and I would read the newspaper as if we were doing a newscast. Many years later, I completed training at Academy of Radio Broadcasting in Huntington Beach, CA. Scope of training included on-air personality and news cast & full production of commercial pieces: writing copy, reading copy, editing, adding music bed, etc. I recently completed training with Dru Scott at MultiMedia Arts in San Diego. Each class included two turns in the booth doing a variety of commercials, narrative pieces, and news stories. We were given direction and constructive criticism, and each session was recorded. I also completed on-screen commercial training with MultiMedia.
Those of you seeking voice talent need to know that in addition to a solid talent, you'll be getting someone who takes a professional approach. It is my desire to get the perfect take in the fewest takes possible. You will get your money's worth if you hire me.
