I started in radio news in 1980 and moved to television in 1984. I have worked in both media ever since. I currently produce and voice education news for KUAT in Tucson, Arizona. I also produce and host a monthly magazine program that features University of Arizona programs and personalities.
I have executed freelance jobs since 1987 for clients including IBM, the University of Arizona, Home and Garden Television, and Worldwide Television Network.
I am self taught. I would read the newspaper out loud and record my voice every day until I liked the sound. I followed advice from radio colleagues with whom I worked. Basically I try to eliminate the highs and lows in my voice.
When I do a voice over I concentrate on the meaning of every word, being cognizant that the listener isn't reading along with me.
As a news producer I have enjoyed a lot of success researching, writing and putting stories together. From the complex to the just plain silly, I tailor my tone and delivery to suit every project. I am quite adept at field production and stand ups.
My freelance clients request me as their voice over talent. I can supply many references to that effect.
