I got my start doing voice over credit announcements (VOCA's) for WSIU TV in Carbondale, IL. The VOCA's were simple things, like "Coming up next, at 8, it's the Lawrence Welk show," or "Be more EDUCATED with YOUR WSIU Television station." After a few years of that, I also began tagging the promos for the local NPR station, 91.9 WSIU FM-- also very simple: "Saturday morning at 9 on WSIU Carbondale, WUSI Olney, WVSI Mount Vernon."
During this time, I volunteered my voice regularly for any media students who needed a simple announcer, or a character for a radio drama. I also began to produce and star in my own radio dramas, commercials, and PSA's. In the fall of 2006, I provided the voice for a promotional video for Waltz Brothers, a machining and grinding company in Wheeling, Illinois.
During the spring of 2007, I spent several months as a reading volunteer at the Southern Illinois Radio Information Service (SIRIS). As a volunteer, I read and recorded various local newspapers to be broadcast on a closed channel to the reading-impaired throughout the region.
Currently, I work as a voice over contractor for The College Network, a website where you can earn a degree online. My work includes recording, editing, and uploading my voice to the company server for the various educational lessons available through the website.
