All of my previous voice-over work has been at home - no professional accounts or contracts. I was signed with United Artist Records as a singer and songwriter in a Texas band called Calico - we recorded two albums in Nashville. As a live performer I developed my style of talking with an audience. I just happen to have a pleasant sounding speaking voice that from what women tell me is also very appealing and even sexy in a subtle way. I also have a somewhat good command of the English language and have a great respect for diction and proper word usage.
I was a journalism major in college and have taken a voice over class here in my hometown, Rochester, NY. I spent 20 years living and playing music and singing in the Dallas/Ft Worth area, recording two albums with United Artists Records. I have since continued performing and singing with various bands and acoustic trios in upstate NY. I did market research surveys for many years as a telephone interviewer with Harris Interactive here in Rochester and was constantly asked by respondents I was interviewing, if I'd ever had or considered a career in broadcasting or professional announcing or voice-overs? I would respectfully answer that I had and thanked them for their encouraging and kind words.
I have recorded either in professional studios or home studios owned by musician friends. I have recording equipment in my house and on my PC.
I have a wide variety of experience in using my voice: as a singer; MC for shows; telephone interviewer; consultant to friends over the phone who find my caring, smooth-sounding voice comforting; speaking on a microphone during my live music shows for over 20 years.
