I have done a variety of VO work over, lo, these many years. Some of the bigger highlights include:
Empire Today and Luna Flooring radio spots, Chicagoland Area Hyundai Dealers Association radio and television spots (several campaigns), Robert Morris University, Cassidy Tire and Service, Apple Vacations, Grossinger Toyota, Bob Watson Chevy, Libertyville Mitsubishi, Champ’s Restaurant, SIU Enrollment e-learning program, EnrollMatch e-learning program, and many others.
My interest in VO grew out of my earlier experiences as an actor in local theatre performances. I also studied acting and directing at Columbia College Chicago. When I am became an audio engineer, I found I could use that experience to help fine-tune the VO actor's performance on certain spots I was recording. From there, I started to take over the direction of certain client's spots, to the point where they wouldn't even attend the session, and just trust me to direct the VO talent. Somewhere, simultaneously with this, I also began to do VOs myself whenever called for (a line here, a dialogue there), until finally, some clients requested me for the main VO on their spots.
Now, with a home studio, I hope to reach out to as many people as possible, with as wide a range of abilities as I now have.
I have my own home studio. I use the Pro-Tools editing system (as I have for many years), complete with its many audio embellishments (EQ, reverb, time compression, etc.)
I have wonderful Shure KSM 27 microphone (which I have always considered superior to their higher-priced KSM 32, which doesn't "like" and reproduce as many VO talents quite as accurately as the 27). At any rate, it works wonderfully for MY voice.
I am still using a remarkable pair of Yamaha NS10-M monitors, truly one of the most accurate and universally used studio monitors ever.
I will say that I do not have ISDN. However, if you wish to be included during the recording session for feedback and direction, I can arrange this.
I have rewritten, directed, edited and mixed countless radio and TV spots.
I have had much experience in the area of e-learning PowerPoint presentations. I had dealt extensively with the personnel constructing the visual side of the presentation, and have learned the minutia of how many separate audio files might be needed just for the many layers of a single slide.
I can also offer suggestions about the editing or rewording of scripts.
As a total side note, I must also mention that I play that eerie-sounding decades-old electronic instrument, the theremin, and was once featured on the Chicago-based "Svengoolie" show, demonstrating it.
Theremin demo available on request.
