My radio broadcasting career spans decades and includes writing, producing and voicing every type and style of radio spot. I spent many years on the air, hosting morning drive- time radio shows in major markets, writing and performing comedy bits. I've also fulfilled the role of Production Manager for a cluster of major market stations. That experience has given me good insight into the needs and goals of clients.
I have studied with Wynn Handman in New York. Wynn is a widely respected acting coach who has worked with a long list of very prominent actors. That training not only helped advance my acting career but also assisted me in voice over through discovery of how to apply new disciplines to that work; learning how to make better, specific choices based on targeted audiences and project objectives and how to most effectively follow direction.
My home studio is Mac based, utilizing Logic Pro X. Logic Pro is an incredibly powerful and versatile DAW for sophisticated, multitrack recording. My analog/digital interface is an M-Audio Track Pro model. It allows for microphones, live or electrical instruments, and MIDI recording. I use several different microphones including an AKG C414 condenser mic, an Audio Technica condenser mic and a Shure Beta 87 dynamic mic. The Shure is best suited for my voice and current studio environment, providing broad frequency response, clear sibilance, resonant lows and very good ambient noise reduction.
In addition to voice over work I also perform as a professional actor on stage and on camera. I have appeared in plays, both comedic and dramatic, creating characters for classical and modern works. I received two Regional Emmy (R) Best Actor Awards for my work on a sketch comedy TV show, "Crabs." It aired on nine Maryland Public Television stations. My work in film includes roles in small, independent movies and a brief appearance in "Syriana."
I have written a short novel, "Simon Gets His Voice." It sells on Amazon and has received very good reviews. I have written a lot of radio spot copy, completed one screenplay and started another and I have a play in the final draft stage, now.
