J.W.'s broadcasting career began in the early '70s, working with radio and TV stations in Southern California and the San Francisco Bay area. His voice over skills have been used to produce thousands of commercials, custom voice tracks for radio automation systems, as well as hundreds of film and TV narrations. J.W. has provided his voice talents for medical and technical narrations, TV "infomercials" and client point-of-purchase video displays seen at national conventions and trade shows. Because of his smooth conversational delivery, he's also been the voice of telephone messaging systems and services for clients in the U.S. and many international locations.
He attended the noted Defense Information School, beginning his early broadcast days with the Armed Forces Radio Network during the Vietnam war. After serving in Southeast Asia, J.W. attended Valley College and UCLA, obtaining his degree in Communications. He also broadened his skills by attending varieties of stage acting workshops and vocal acting classes in San Francisco and Southern California. Because of his vast experience, he's often called upon to lecture to college and university classes about 'real world' vocal deliveries and how to work to improve in their public speaking abilities.
As a working narrator, J.W. excels in dealing with each project's producer and director on a personal basis. It's always been his goal to provide quality narrations even if there might be budget limitations. As far as fees, he routinely cuts items at single-spot rates but many clients prefer to sign him for "package" rates which will provide them with ten spots per month on a reduced-cost basis. He's always willing to provide sample readings of scripts with the .mp3 or .aif files sent directly to your studio or computer for review; and he has phone-patch capabilities which allow you to direct him during your recording session.
