Janet Wilcox was discovered as voice talent on her first job as a writer/producer with HBO. Working with the best talent and getting opportunities to do voice over for television was invaluable VO training.
She studied opera technique in NYC and continues to study singing with Jill Edwards, a student of Joan Lader. She studied voice over with Joan Utall Anderson, and Wendy Dillon, and dance at Broadway Dance.
Janet also studied acting with Sandy Dennis at HB studio, improv with Paul Sills, sitcoms with Bob Luke, cold reading with Michelle Danner, and Stanislavski techniques with Eugene Lazarev.
She was in "Line" with the 13th Street Rep Company in NYC and performed an improv show in New York comedy clubs with the comedy troupe "Grown Up's Playground".
Janet played a real estate agent character in the film,"Mortal Sins" starring Anthony LaPaglia.
She is a member of Theatre 40 in Los Angeles.
Janet received her Master’s degree in Communication from the Annenberg School of Communication at the University of Pennsylvania, She also has taught at Marymount Manhattan College, Heyman Talent, and the SAG Conservatory. Janet currently teaches a studio voiceover class at UCLA Extension in Los Angeles.

Janet Wilcox is an author, voice actress, teacher, and writer/producer. She is the author of "Voiceovers:,Techniques and Tactics for Success." As a writer, producer and director, Janet worked on major promotional campaigns for HBO and also promoted programs on ABC and The History Channel. She directed promo segments with Keith Carradine for the HBO series Deadwood. While at HBO, she also directed segments with celebrities such as Jerry Seinfeld, Colleen Dewhurst, William Petersen, and Gladys Knight. Janet received her Master’s degree in Communication from the Annenberg School of Communication at the University of Pennsylvania, and she has taught “Sources of the Modern Cinema” with Amos Vogel—one of the original founders of the New York Film Festival. She also taught at Marymount Manhattan College, Heyman Talent, and the SAG Conservatory. Janet currently teaches a studio voice-over class at UCLA Extension in Los Angeles. Ms. Wilcox is also writing her next book on monologues and acting sides.
