I have done radio, tv and live speaking engagements.
My voice has been featured on PSA's, talk & music shows on kpft 90.1 fm Pacifica radio.
This has ranged from "improvisational readings of prose and poetry to the unexpected eclectic music selections of DJ Clif Smith on his show SONGLINES... who I met after calling into his talk show, COMMUNITY DIALOGUE.
He told me, "I had to meet that voice."
In my own show production, I have been host, interviewer, & reader - often over music. Whether reading or off the cuff, both the Program Director and General Manager have complimented me as "the best radio voice on-air."
I have also been interviewed on-air in front of the camera, as well as interviewed others in filming, on Public Access cable show GreenWatch.
As a dance facilitator, I speak to groups of people to set an emotional tone of safety and occasionally lead meditation visualizations.
I also am known for my "vocalizing of tones" to music or acappella. I have a good singing voice, though I prefer sheet music for lyrics.
I have had choral training, to do harmonies.
As a reading & special ed. teacher - and as a parent - I have read thousands of children's books aloud over the years.
I have taught reading fluency to teens by group readings of plays.
I have a reputation for suddenly speaking in strange cartoon voices, accents, Old English, "Auzzie" lingo, Spanglish, southern "conversatin"... or in sudden song... my music vocabulary stretches from middle school hip hop to highbrow ... & I can flow a rhyme most of the time.
Don't hire me to flow a [good] black rap off the cuff though. lol
If I call while you are out, be forewarned...many friends have told me they forgot I was not actually on the phone when listening to my messages.
Oh, and in Jr. High, after the teacher gave up on the rest of the class, I was allowed to read almost the entire text of Romeo and Juliet aloud ... to my delight.
I have learned on the job in community radio, and Public Access television.
I did a little community theatre, have engaged in theatre workshops, and classes in theater and public speaking.
I have also had to develop my speaking skills in teaching - for all age levels, and different populations, over 18 years.
I have been involved in other performing arts, including experimental dance, performance art, classes in choreography, and journalism. I was on staff of the top award winning Hillcrest HS newspaper, in Dallas.
I have also taught students with little English and language impairments to literally speak.
I have a lot of experience in this Creative Aspect of Musicology - with a Large music library especially in world music.
I understand the nuances of music that set a mood and complement the message.
I have learned to work a board in cable tv and radio, but I do not have this level of equipment myself.
My home studio is a new iMac all-in-one desktop with Garage Band.
I am eager to produce good voice for you.
I have connections to other studio audio engineers when required by you for the appropriate fees.
I am a voice talent, character voice and copywriter with deep knowledge of music application to presentation - and a large music library to match.
I have listened to tapes and done some work with Marshall Rosenberg's NONVIOLENT COMMUNICATION and similar.
I have an interest in metaphysical thoughts and communication, and psychology.
By desire, I integrate verbal, intonation, body language and facial expression communication skills within other teaching.
My original degree is in Illustration. I have worked on many projects over the years, including hopeful books for children. I am a long time member of the Society for Children's Book Writers & Illustrators.
I lived in the suburbs of Sydney, Australia for 7.5 years. Last year I went to the Northern Territory to learn about the Yolngu way of life on their sacred homeland of Gulkula during the GarmaFest.
