I've been a character actor on stage professionally since 1970. Even in college, knew that was my bread and butter. Started TV and radio commercial work in 1974, and specialized in an unusual array of voices. Done ads in both media as Sherlock Holmes, General Custer, Moses, Santa Claus, Ebeneezer Scrooge, Benjamin Franklin, and other multicultural types.
Been with The Atlanta Radio Theatre Company (ARTC) since 1984, providing many voices as well as vocal direction. With them, have played animals, aliens, and strange folk of all races and ages.
I have also done recordings for The Radio Repertory Company of America, and voiced an animatronic lion telling bible stories at a "Creation Museum".
Since 1986, have been involved with the Atlanta Shakespeare Tavern, a year-round professional company dedicated to Shakespeare's plays and other classical works performed in a casual setting. Have acted steadily with them since 1996, performing many major roles, including Shylock, Polonius, and Friar Lawrence.
Since 2001 have been reading to schoolkids, mostly Kindergartners, through SAG's BookPALS program. I see four classes on a weekly basis, and through "Uncle Dunkle's" vocal versatility, bring the characters on the printed pages to life.
BA in Theatre Arts from the University of South Florida (Tampa, 1969); MFA in Theatre from Florida State University (Tallahassee, 1973). MFA training included two seasons with Sarasota's Asolo State Theatre.
