I worked with one of the first northern California "on-hold," voiceover companies, back when we were replacing cassettes (weekly) into the clients' cassette recorders that tied into the telephone system. These clients often required technical language, e.g., builders, dentists, which necessitated specific diction and clear enunciation, all while remaining professional and pleasant-sounding. My days in radio and television saw me writing and recording copy for restaurants, banks, car dealerships, a yogurt shop -- you name it. As a freelance writer and voice talent I've written and recorded copy for all types of clients, including a winery, a car dealership, special musical events and much, much more. Additionally, I've spent quite a bit of time acting as well, which encompassed training tapes, such as an employee "how do we treat the customers well" bit for Raley's.
I majored in broadcast journalism and have worked in media since that time which has allowed me access to a myriad of projects, including voiceovers, impromptu acting, scripted acting (training videos, radio and television commercials, promos) and much, much more. I have worked in newspaper, radio and television, writing and voicing scripts, in addition to selling advertising spots. I was also a stand-up comedienne, as well as an audience coordinator for a comedy show and I've taken a run at being the hostess for a few shows, including a golf show. Additionally, I am a published writer who has not only written my own stand-up material, which I have performed in clubs and for private parties, but I've written material for numerous published essays and columns.
I have a home studio and so, not only am I able to record (and convert) audio to a MP3 format, but other formats as well.
I also hold teaching credentials in both Multimedia Production and English Literature. I had the pleasure of setting up a state-of-the-art digital television studio at a local high school, during which time I taught Multimedia Production to grades 9-12 students. I have spent many years in the classroom, hanging out with those teenaged "big kids," so if there are spots that require their cadence of speech, knowledge of educational tenets or that type of thing, I'm your girl!
