I played the role of the "Wicked Witch" in the Wizard of Oz, a role that I won because the final decision came down to which female could inflect in their voice the evil and venomous laugh almost exactlly like Margaret Hamilton in her 1935 preformance with Judy Garland. I can train my voice to sound humorously authoritarian, child-like, sassy, argumentative. I have a character that is part of my standup routine, which is an African-American Baptist preacher... By the way, I am female. Can do a pretty good Louis Armstrong, Bill Cosby, Johnny Taylor, and Bobby Womack!!! I played a Legion/Serpent in an Easter Production of the Crucifiction of Jesus Christ.
I was in the drama club in high school, and minored in theatre in college. In college, I took and voice and diction class, participated in comedy performance workshops by visiting professional actors. Most performances I did on the high school and college stage were those whose characters had a humorous voice and hilarious stage presence.
