I've been lucky to have worked in more than one voice arena, starting years ago voicing background narration for fashion events. In recent years I've done "on-hold" voicemail work and announcer gigs for TV commercials. Voiceover work comes naturally to me, having done characters AS a child and then FOR my child. Even before my first paying job, I was generally considered the class kook, using voices in my school reports. I don't hear voices, I am voices!
While I'd have to say that most of my training has come from the fabled "School of Hard Knocks", I've also honed my skills at acting classes offered through the local talent agencies and universities, as well as at courses offered by our city's oldest and well-recognized recording studios. Do I know everything about the business? No. Am I willing to learn that new trick? Absolutely.
I have additional background in advertising having worked freelance off and on for years for a very large marketing firm, am a published poet, and am always up for being the center of attention!
