Many years as a Radio News Anchor for Eureka Broadcasting's KINS 106.3FM. I do voice-work/news segments for sister stations' KEKA 101.5FM and KWSW 980FM. I began my vocal career in 2003 at this station.
Began as a radio news anchor in 2003. Trained in the traditional news-gathering, voicing and news-radio methods while on the job. During that time i took a College course on journalism that exposed me to additional resources. I have done everything you would expect from a news anchor including: beat calls, quick updates for deadlines, interviews with news-makers, disaster and election coverage, I have a professional concept of deadlines and their importance.
I use the same gear I use at the radio station. A Cad Audio D189 Dynamic Mic. If a condenser is needed, then it would be the C195. I own Mantova's Two Street Music, a music retail business with two location in Eureka and McKinleyville, CA. Gear is not a problem :) I have access to Audio Technica, Peavey, Cad and can also contact distributors for other brands.
I also use the Acousti-Shield from Cad to cut down on reverb. I have mics that can bring out the bottom end of my voice and I have tube mics (Cad Trion 6000) that can give the warm sound of old fashioned '50's mics.
I've also spent some time in radio sales, so I share the unique perspectives of sales folks.
