I have always had a very unique and distinct voice. One with sincerity and conviction, socially and in media. I have done Japanimation, radio, TV and radio commercials, plays/musicals, announcing, and cheer, and recorded multiple music tracts and records in the Rock, Hip-Hop, R&B and House-Trance arenas. I have used my voice for identification throughout my existence, for within its identity, shines through my spirit.
I began projecting my voice early, singing in my living room to musicals and Arias with my mother and sisters, in prose/poetry and duet acting contests, leads in musicals, Anything Goes and The Boyfriend, wrote and sang with Tasty Lick Productions, rendition of Fever and other tracts that were played in Houston and other markets, as well as Winter Music Conference in Miami. Sang with old band a few times with sister, Crown of Thorns, at Dallas City Limits. Performed in San Antonio with Too Short. Had a radio show every Friday out of Corpus Christi, TX, called, "askaimeebabee, anything. Did advertisements, commercial production and recordings for clients at station, Badlands FM, 94.7. Interviewed artists in the studio and announced artists at venues. Have used my voice to record messages and greetings for companies I have worked for, as well as friends and family for holidays and birthdays.
I took drama, journalism in high school and wrote for the Entertainment section for our school paper, the Three Penny Press. A few acting classes and a public speaking class in college, but mostly learned to sing by listening to my mother and sister who sang Opera. My first VoiceOver was for a Japanimation cartoon called Colorful. What would have taken hours, we did in one take. Great fun!
Although I have not had any formal training, I feel that experience, a background in theatre, and someone who is aware, compassionate, and sensitive to others, has afforded me the ability to capture the essence of the script and really empathize with the character/role and the direction that the client is pursuing.
I am currently in discussion with several voice over and vocal instructors in order to enhance my personal goals with my voice and to further my career in this competitive industry.
I personally use the Samson Meteor Mic, which is practical, affordable, portable, and has incredible sound, accompanied with the TW Recorder app, which I absolutely love, on my iPad with my headphones, to record, edit, and upload recordings via email, Dropbox, Sound Cloud, and Garage Band.
I have been recording on my iPad, due to convenience and accessibility, in case I need to travel for work or record or edit a submission immediately.
I have access to several professional studios, locally that use Neumann mics, and other brands of microphones, accompanied with either Pro Tools or Adobe Audition and various compressors and interfaces, for complete ISDN quality.
I am currently exploring multiple music and sound programs/apps to assist in background when recording voice overs and for my songs, as well as additional equipment to expand my home studio.
It's very important that you know that I am a professional and a perfectionist. I hold the utmost respect and regard in any work I involve myself in. I am invested, flexible, and fearless. I am compassionate and a good listener, so I can empathize with others and internalize their emotions which allows those emotions to come through in my vocal performance. You can hear the inflection and the conviction in my voice.
Having been in sales and marketing, I understand the needs of the client and the direction of the project/product. I am aware of the goals that businesses are trying to meet, as well as create a unique niche, not only to set themselves apart from their competitors, but to raise the bar higher within their industry and to create lasting memories for their consumers/clients.
Managing at The Whiskey Bar, has helped me to build a trusting relationship with my clients and staff. I am super creative and like to do things outside the box.
