I began recording myself as a child of about 5 years old. My brother and I would make recordings to amuse ourselves on an old tape deck back in the early 80's.
As an adult, with the new technology of personal computers, microphones, and sharing websites such as YouTube, I began creating my own videos with both speaking and singing. I've had many, many compliments on my voice, and had one person tell me "You need to be doing voice-overs for Disney. Seriously. Or your voice needs to be in musical cartoons period. Just.. you should be singing for a living. Period." My thoughts exactly!
I am completely self-trained. I performed in plays throughout school. I performed with my high school chorus. At age 26 I joined a local theater group and I've been performing 2-3 shows per year with them (mostly musical theater). I've also performed concerts with a local chorale (jazz, classical, pop). I've been recording my own voice and sharing it via YouTube and Photobucket for approximately the past 2-3 years.
While I do not have a full studio, I have my laptop, a headset/microphone, and recording software.
