Voice Description

I would consider my voice to be adaptable. It is usually powerful and loud. I can also get people to listen to me by lowering it. In my occupation, I am constantly trying to make a good impression withcustomers. I am a Sales Manager at an auto Dealership, so I have always had to adapt to the customer, can't be the same with everyone. I tell my people we are on stage every time we are in a dialogue with customers.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

I was an aspiring class clown in my school days. I grew up in a small town without much to do. We often entertained ourselves by learning to imitate the voices of our parents, teachers and neighbors. I was very good at imitating television voices back then. It taught me lots about projecting my voice. My favorite comedians were the guys who did voices. It made me laugh when I heard Rich Little's real voice, because it wasn't like the ones I usually heard him do. I sing karaoke and usually only do songs by powerful male singers. My best are songs from Toby Keith, Trace Adkins, and other strong voice country artists. I also rock the house with Doors, Lynyrd Skynyrd and others. I was born in the suburbs of New York City and lived in New Jersey until I was 10 years old. I lost my North Jersey accent after a few years, but never really picked up the dialect form my area, always somewhere in between. When I went to college, many of the kids were from the New York area, including 4 that were from my grade school. I would often speak with them like I was still there. My brother and I still do imitations of my father, often to his face now! We were scared to try it when we were young, but word got to him that we were as good at doing his voice as he was!

My Voice Experience

I have no paid experience. I have occasionally done commercials for the auto dealerships I have worked for over the past 23 years. I recently did 2 over the past few months For Independence Ford in Bloomsburg, PA, my current employer. Several people have told me I should try to market my voice. My sister is a controller for CanDo corporation in Hazleton PA and she played my recent ad for the PR division of her company. The manager liked the ad and told her to refer me to voice123. I have been in the auto industry most of my adult life, but had original aspirations of a career in radio or tv. My first major at King's College in Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania was Communications, but I switched to Marketing after one year. I usually could get reading opportunities on WRKC's Radio Home Visitor, where we read the local newspaper over the air so the blind could get news sports and obits. The show is still on today and is still hosted by Father Tom Carten who started it in the 70's.

My Training

I had entry level Communications classes at King's college, but that was 29 years ago. I haven't been trained since but have lots of recent experience singing in public. My mid life hobby is singing Karaoke, and I often go more than once a week. I am currently in an 8 week competition at Spurs country bar in Pittston PA.
