I've always been a talker - gotten in trouble for it my whole life. I took what I do best and made it my career.
My introduction to Voice Overs was in phone messaging and IVR systms. My Father is the creator of On Site paging, he holds over 200 patents in Telecommunications. Back when it was an all in the Family business, and money was tight I was the one he would use for the voice recordings.
My voice still can be heard on Motorola & Nextel systems asking you to "press 1 to leave a message" or "please hold while I attempt to locate".
I then had opportunities to record news bites, promos and commercial voice overs and voice on camera. I put together a demo to present to an agency and was advised to take voice lessons and get coaching. I enrolled in singing, vocal & dialect classes. I won an award for public speaking - during my 10 minute presentation I was able to get a group of academics to gesture, laugh, gasp and cry.
I also took an internship with a radio station which led to an afternoon airshift and production duties.
I have worked on the air in mid sized and major market radio and television stations. In Dallas, I hosted a weekly television entertainment magazine, and in Louisiana I hosted a handicapping program for Delta Downs Racetrack & Casino which aired nationally on Satellite gaming stations.
I also do tradeshow narration and demonstrations.
Singing and voice training, Theater, Public speaking classes and coaching.
Home studio for auditions, with Sennheiser MD 421 and dbx 286A mic pre amp/processor. Adobe Audition 3.
I have access to a full production recording studio with royalty free music and sound EFX library, ISDN, phone patch and Skype. We can produce and deliver audio files on most requested formats.
I take direction well and I can complete a project in just a few takes, usually due only to director's choice.
To keep the customers' interest and/or pack alot of words into a little time, I can speak quickly AND clearly, and still be understood; or slow down without boring the customer.
In order to stretch my range, I participate in Community theater and Storytelling at the local library & my 4 year old's bedtime.
