Voice Description

I am a bass/baritone and I have a strong singing voice. My common tongue sounds a lot like a radio voice, as I have a very rich and expressive speaking voice. I grew up in a Jewish family who spoke some Yiddish so the Jewish and Russian accents come very naturally to me. I like doing improv and developing character voices but do not have formal communications training.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

I can mimic with some accuracy most voices I hear. Old man, Russian Jew, Canadian, Hick or Hillbilly, the Movie Announcer Guy, the MoviePhone guy, Cheesy Game Show Host, Exaggerated French Accent, Accurate Spanish Accent, Ukrainian Accent, British Accent, and a variety of cartoon voices.

My Voice Experience

I have done live narration for the Moses Hogan song "Who Built the Ark" while a member of the PBU Chorale. I acted as the live voice of god at the 2004 City Year Greater Philadelphia Tribute Dinner honoring David Cohen. I sang the national anthem at the November 16 2003 Philadelphia Eagles game as a part of an octet. Some informal work with recreation centers and after school programs in character acting and improv.

My Training

I have had a lot of voice and breathing training in vocal and choral performance. I have been singing all my life. I was a member of my college chorale and have had some voice lessons and personal training. I have lived in the Dominican Republic for a couple years as well and can read and pronounce Spanish precisely.

My Studio Equipment

I have a high-end computer with an Audigy sound processor and simple microphone and pop-filter setup. Using basic home equipment I have created an area that can add natural echo or deaden background and ambient noises as needed.

Additional Skills

My studies have been primarily in Social Work and Human and Cultural Diversity; I say that to say, that I do not see voiceovers as a full-time or primary job. I would like to use the voice that I have been given for something good and I would be willing to work for little to literally nothing if need be. I simply desire to use my skills and strengths to the best of my ability and I think voiceovers would be something I could do very well but that would challenge me in a new area.
