Voice Description
My voice? Think the male equivalent of Patsy Stone (Absolutely Fabulous) rather than Patsy Kensit! It is the 0845 number of voices (strictly Non-Geographical, it used to be called RP or Received Pronounciation) plus some interesting resonances.
Crystal clear enunciation at all speeds from the measured delivery of BBC4 to the speed and impact of CNN.
"You really involved all the spectators ... even the face painter in the far corner of the field heard every word and said how much she had enjoyed the soft spoken words." (Wendy Herbst, Polo Wicklow, August 2011)
"Thank you very much for being a brilliant commentator ..." (Polo Manager, June 2010)
"Roy's commentating ... was fantastic. Many people attending were new to the game but Roy managed to combine an informative introduction to the rules with lots of humour and thoroughly enhanced the enjoyment of the day for everybody!" (Organizer, La Chamiza Wine Picnic & Polo Day, June 2008)
"... training in the office on using the telephone ... he was really great and highly recommend him" (MD, Communications Company)
Charitable activities include regular contributions to the Audio Internet Reading Service of Los Angeles (AIRS-LA), and regular polo commentaries for the Heaton-Ellis Trust (research into MND).

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
Think the measured tones of BBC4 English plus the speed and impact of CNN if needed! Tonal quality is Barry White rather than 50 Cent.
My Voice Experience
My voice has mainly been used over PA systems on-course at polo matches, cross-country events, agricultural shows and horse shows. I have trained others to use good technique when answering the telephone.
My Training
Sometime amateur actor (best review ever was for my Spanish Ambassador in "A Man for All Seasons"); writer and performer of humorous verse.
Day job proofreader and trouble-shooter for accounting systems and databases (I'm told my voice sounds particularly sexy when talking about them). My only formal qualifications are in theoretical physics!
My Studio Equipment
Shure PG48 with MXL Mic Mate Pro. Platform PC and Mac. Editors WavePad Master, Audacity, and Twisted Wave. Plus an Acoustic Solutions PIRMH-2 radio mike (which I bring to some events for commentary work over PA systems) and a Skytronics HC280 electret condenser shotgun mike.
Additional Skills
In my extensive commentary work over PA systems I befriend audiences and help them enjoy the event as much as I do.
