I have been entertaining children of all ages for the last 18 years. My typical day requires me to stand in front a class and do whatever it takes to engage students in my lessons. I am a Spanish teacher. Some tactics I use are voice inflections, enunciation, rapid speech, slow speech, goofy voices, character voices when reading children's books...whatever it takes.
During my college years, I earned extra money working as a transcriber for a blind girl on campus. She would record my voice into a special recorder as I read her textbooks and novels aloud.
I used to sing in high school and college choir as a first soprano. In college I took classical voice lessons and sang opera pieces. I also performed on college campus singing the songs of Whitney Houston and Barbara Streisand. I still sing but I now perform for my family while cooking and cleaning!
I hold a B.A. in Spanish, an M.A. in Spanish, as well as an M.A. in education. I also hold a paralegal certification.
I currently teach Spanish to middle school students, and have taught every grade from grades 2-12.
I am also a writer. I have written several bilingual children's books (unpublished). I wrote a quarterly newsletter for the CT AMC Mountaineering Committee, I have published two research papers with ERIC; I have contributed to a teacher book about the Dominican Republic which was published (200?); I currently founded and write for my blog Enlanguages.com and genredujour.wordpress.com. I am also working on a screenplay movie length and a short film.
I was the vp of TSA and am currently the secretary of TSA. I run the annual screenplay contest. I participate regularly in table reads of screenplays.
